Using AI to Help Improve Health

IO Analytics are building an innovative Womens Health Application that will marry AI Innovations with Womens health needs.

Supporting Women Through the Menopause

According to the 2021 Census, women and girls made up 30.4 million (51.0%) of the population of England and Wales and 2.8 million (51.4%) of the population of Scotland. All these women will go through the menopause at some point in their lives and some will find the experience severe with negative impacts affecting their personal and professional lives.

At IO Analytics we are creating a novel use of Artificial Intelligence technology that we believe will provide significant improvements in Menopause Health Care for all women.

Using Data to Help

The availability of data in Menopause and menopause care is limited because of historic under investment and lack of understanding and awareness. Having the right data could have several benefits:

  • Medical research: For 90% of the women who undergo premature Menopause, the reasons are unknown. Because early menopause is so unusual in young women, the symptoms can be missed or thought to be due to other conditions. Having an early or premature menopause can increase the risk of Osteoporosis (weak bones) and Cardiovascular (heart) disease so any way to provide data for research can only benefit women everywhere.
  • Workplace improvements: raising awareness for employers, making a case for support resources, helping employers prioritise support , reducing work absence, reducing staff turnover and replacement costs.

Lack of Personalised Support

Each woman’s experience of menopause will differ significantly and while awareness of menopause is increasing there is not currently a way to provide women with a personalised understanding of their own menopause

Workplace Needs

It is important women are supported in approaching their employers about conversations to help manage symptoms as part of self-help measures

Inequality of Access

There is evidence that menopause services are accessed less by those on lower incomes and by women from minority ethnic groups. People from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds may have different beliefs and attitudes, which can have an impact on their ability to seek help. Our solution will help solve this issue.
